Saratoga Springs woman sentenced to house arrest for stealing veteran’s benefits
A Saratoga Springs was sentenced on Tuesday to 3 months of house arrest for stealing $50,000 of a veteran’s benefits.
JoAnne Natalie, 65, had previously admitted in U.S. District Court that from September 2019 through January 2021, she used the benefits for her personal use, according to a news release.
Natalie had been appointed as fiduciary and had oversight of the funds, which were deposited into the veteran’s bank account.
U.S. District Judge Glenn Suddaby also sentenced her to 2 years of supervised released and ordered her to pay restitution.
The case was investigated as part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Elder Justice Initiative.
