Schenectady County taking over case of father who allegedly starved young daughter to death

The horrific case of a man accused of starving his young daughter to death is being taken over by the county.

Robert Buskey waived his right to appear in Schenectady City Court on Wednesday. His lawyer appeared instead on his behalf.

The Schenectady father starved his 5-year-old daughter Charlotte to death last month, investigators said.

Buskey is currently being held in the Schenectady County Jail. He was denied bail in Schenectady City Court on Friday because he is considered a flight risk.

Police found Charlotte Buskey, 5, dead inside her home on Elmer Avenue last month, they said.

Buskey’s 3-year-old son was also found inside the home and had cocaine in his system, investigators said.

Buskey pleaded not guilty. He could spend 18 years in prison if convicted.
