Man may get life in prison for murder of Pittstown man

A Schenectady man was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years to life in prison for killing a Pittstown man during a 2023 burglary.

Carlos Lewis, 26, was one of three men charged in connection with the death of Nathaniel Miller, 19, on June 9, 2021.

The other two people charged in the case are Devin Van Patten, who pleaded guilty and is awaiting a 20-year prison sentence.

Kyle Hutchinson was found guilty of murder and burglary charges and sentenced to 25 years to life for the murder and 25 years for burglary, which will be served concurrently.

Rensselaer County Chief Assistant District Attorney Matt Hauf issued a statement thanking New York State Police’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Major Crimes, Forensic Identification Unit and Forensic Investigation Center for this case for its work on this case.
