Schoharie limo victim’s lawyer wants police subpoenaed over surveillance video
The lawyer for one of the victims of the 2018 Schoharie limousine crash is requesting higher-quality copies of surveillance videos shown at the trial of Nauman Hussain.
Hussain, the operator of the limo company, was sentenced to 15 years in prison last year for manslaughter. Twenty people were killed in the crash.
An attorney for the family of Michael Ukaj filed a request for higher quality recordings from Mavis Discount Tire.
The recordings are of discussions between Mavis employees and Hussain about the inspection condition, and repairs of the limousine that ended up crashing.
The filing claims Mavis provided audio recordings with a high-pitched sound in the background, which makes hearing the discussions clearly very difficult.
It goes on to say New York State Police have cleaned-up versions of those recordings, and transcripts from the videos.
The attorney is asking the court to subpoena the New York State Police.
This story was first reported by The Times Union, and NewsChannel 13 has obtained copies of the legal filings.
Mavis is currently in settlement talks with families of the crash victims.
