Two people charged in connection with homicide investigation

Two people charged in connection with homicide investigation in Schoharie County.

Michael Todtschinder, 24, and Walter Fahrenkopf, 39, are facing charges in relation to the homicide of Jeffrey Mickle, according to the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office.

An investigation began following an missing persons report for Mickle on Nov. 29.

Mickle, 41, of Middleburgh, had last been seen on Nov. 25. After further investigation, deputies discovered Mickle’s deceased body with several apparent gunshot wounds in the town of Broome.

Sheriff’s sent out multiple search warrants and an arrest warrant for Todtschinder who was ultimately located in Pennsylvania.

Todtschinder was found in Dalton, Pennsylvania by Pennsylvania State Police and taken into custody. He is being held at Lackawanna County Correctional Facility in Scranton, the Schoharie Sheriff’s Department reported.

Todtschinder was charged with second-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence. Fahrenkopf was arrested on a charge of concealment of a human corpse.

Fahrenkopf was arrested by the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office and was arraigned at the Schoharie County Centralized Arraignment Part Court. He is being held at the Schoharie County Correctional Facility without bail.
