It’s been more than two months since Albany barber, Tyrone Staley was gunned down while working at the Village Barber and Beauty.

The barbershop was shutdown for weeks. Now they’re back open and doing everything they can to keep their fellow barber’s name alive.

A scholarship’s been created, the Ty Staley Future Barber Scholarship Fund, and the first “Ride for Ty” will be held in September. The money raised from the event will go towards helping a young person become a barber.

The event takes place September 9 at the Village Barber Shop, 221 Second Ave. Registration is from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.
