The new safety technology being installed on school buses across our area has a positive track record to catch drivers who pass illegally.

The new technology is made by BusPatrol, as NewsChannel 13 reported on Monday. It keeps track of how many cars illegally pass those buses.

South Colonie was the first school district to install the technology.

BusPatrol says the program is seeing a violation rate of one per bus – per day.

The program captured an average of 63 violations per day in November, and 66 violations per day in December.
