Schumer not happy with Republican funding proposal for Israel
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is upset about a proposal by House Republicans to use cuts to the IRS to pay for aid to send to Israel.
There were strong words on the Senate floor Wednesday from Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
He is upset about a proposal by House Republicans to use cuts to the IRS to pay for aid to send to Israel.
“The House GOP proposal is not going anywhere,” said Schumer.
The proposal includes $14.3 billion in emergency funding for Israel while cutting that same amount from the Inflation Reduction Act.
If the bill passes the House, it will likely be rejected by the Senate, said Schumer.
He encouraged new House Speaker Mike Johnson to sit down with Democrats and work through the issue.
