Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer is planning for an initial vote next week on legislation that would provide grants, tax credits, and other financial incentives to manufacturing plants here in the U.S.

The legislation focuses on semi-conductor plants to help increase the production of computer chips across the country.

Both the house and the senate have passed bills calling for the development of region technology hubs. Lawmakers so far have struggled to get 60 votes in the senate to fully pass legislation to ease the chip shortage.
