Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that he has secured an additional $1 billion for this year’s low income Home Energy Assistance Program.

The program helps New Yorkers across the state afford their heating bills during the winter.

In the Capital Region, over 100,000 people received Home Energy Assistance during last winter.

These additional funds hope to help during the winter while the war in Ukraine is ongoing and the supply chain is still recovering.
