The Sunnyside Bridge in Scotia is officially closed down. The road closed barriers were put up on Wednesday.

For the thousands of motorists who cross this bridge every day, you might not know there’s anything wrong with the bridge.

However, if you were to check out the underside of Sunnyside, you would understand why the decision had to be made.

It was engineers from the New York State Department of Transportation who ordered the bridge to be shut down for repairs.

The bridge was previously closed for about two months back in 2014 for resurfacing. Now much more needs to be done.

Engineers detected many, many defects, and determined prompt action is required.

This time, folks who use the bridge will be inconvenienced until sometime in 2024.
