Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand announced a new bill Tuesday that aims to support victims and survivors of human trafficking.

The Trafficking Survivor’s Relief Act would allow victims that have non-violent criminal convictions related to the trafficking expunged.

It would also allow for someone’s status as a victim of trafficking to be considered in court when imposing a prison sentence for violent crimes.
