Police still haven’t recovered the second slug that Kevin Monahan is accused of firing from the porch of his home, and he’s not talking, Washington County Sheriff Jeff Murphy said.

Monahan, 65, is accused of shooting and killing Kaylin Gillis, 20, over the weekend, when a car she was in accidentally turned into the wrong driveway.

The Ford Explorer that Gillis was in, was the last of the group to turn around and head back, said Murphy, and that another car and a motorcycle went first.

“In this case – especially with the facts as we have stated – with the vehicles leaving, they’re clearly not a threat to the homeowner at that time, and that’s the time they chose to fire the shots. So I think that’s the key point in this case,” said Murphy.

Bail was denied for Monahan. His attorney said they are exploring an appeal.
