Sheriff’s office: ‘Suspicious’ car in Stephentown posed no threat

A suspicious car people were being warned about by the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office has been found.

The driver has been identified as a subcontractor for an independent company, investigators said.
He was driving a white sedan when he stopped in the middle of a highway and took photos and video of a home on Route 43 in Stephentown.

When the homeowners approached him, he allegedly said he was employed by NYSEG and was checking the utility poles.

He also ran away at times, instead of showing his credentials, the sheriff’s office said.
