She’s only 18 and already a firefighter in Albany County
Through firefighting – she found her confidence and passion. Now, she continues to strive for more. Abby Robbins is doing it all at the age of 18!
Robbins became a firefighter with Coeymans Hollow Volunteer Fire Corp as a teenager. She’s just over a year into the job and has already helped tackled a big wildfire in Jennings Creek.
Abby is one of the roughly 9% of women across the country who are firefighters.
She has a message for other young women trying to find the right career path:
“If you know what you want to do and you know what your heart is telling you, I highly suggest to go for it, even if it seems difficult or maybe even impossible. I think it’s worth it in the long run, as long as you’re happy.”
Abby will also be an EMT in January and is taking classes to become a nurse. She is set to graduate in 2027.
