Female firefighter breaking barriers and she’s only 18!

Abby Robbins has big goals and she's on track to check each one of them off her list. She started her firefighting journey at 16.

Through firefighting – she found her confidence and passion. Now, she continues to strive for more. Abby Robbins is doing it all at the age of 18!

Robbins became a firefighter with Coeymans Hollow Volunteer Fire Corp as a teenager. She’s just over a year into the job and has already helped tackled a big wildfire in Jennings Creek.

Abby is one of the roughly 9% of women across the country who are firefighters.

She has a message for other young women trying to find the right career path:

“If you know what you want to do and you know what your heart is telling you, I highly suggest to go for it, even if it seems difficult or maybe even impossible. I think it’s worth it in the long run, as long as you’re happy.”

Abby will also be an EMT in January and is taking classes to become a nurse. She is set to graduate in 2027.
