Six people displaced after fire in Pittsfield

Six people and a kitten were displaced after a structure fire in Pittsfield on Saturday.

Six people are out of their homes this morning after a fire in Pittsfield.

 
Fire officials say there was a heavy fire at 1719 South Atlantic Street shortly after 4:00 p.m. Saturday.

Crews did a search of the building and found a kitten, which was handed over to a medic crew for care.


Authorities say firefighters got the fire under control in about 30 minutes.


Residents of the home are being helped by the Red Cross.


The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
