South Glens Falls woman accused of intentionally starting fire with blowtorch

A South Glens Falls woman was arrested for allegedly setting clothes on fire with a blowtorch during a domestic incident.

Officers responded to a residence on Second Street at around 6:40 a.m. on Saturday for a report of a woman who had set a pile of a man’s clothing on fire in an upstairs bedroom, police said.

Desirae L. Sauter, 39, put out the fire before police arrived. The floor and window blinds were damaged, police said.

A 12-year-old child inside the residence had some breathing problems but did not require medical attention.

Sauter was charged with a felony count of arson and misdemeanors of endangering the welfare of a child and criminal mischief.

Sauter was arraigned in Moreau Town Court and released to pre-trail services. She is due back in court on March 6.
