South Glens Falls woman charged in $4,000 forgery scheme

A South Glens Falls woman is under arrest, accused of forgery.

Elizabeth Carney, 55, cashed multiple stolen checks, state police said.

She worked for the victim as a housekeeper, investigators said.

She allegedly had more than a dozen forged checks that were later discovered to be stolen.

She stole more than $4,000 through this scheme, said investigators.

Carney is facing 13 counts of possession of a forged instrument charges, grand larceny charges and 13 counts of possessing stolen property.

She was arrested in Wilton and arraigned at the Moreau Town Court.

She was sent to the Saratoga County Jail.
