South Glens Falls woman indicted on arson charge

A South Glens Falls woman has been indicted for allegedly setting clothes on fire with a blowtorch during a domestic incident.

The fire took place on Second Street around 6:40 a.m. on March 2. Desirae L. Sauter, 39, had set a pile of a man’s clothing on fire in the bedroom. Sauter put it out before police arrived. The floor and window blinds were damaged, police said.

A 12-year-old child inside the residence had some breathing problems but did not require medical attention.

Sauter was charged with a felony count of arson and misdemeanors of endangering the welfare of a child and criminal mischief.

She was arraigned in Saratoga County Court on Thursday.
