Special tribute honoring Dr. Alice Green
ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT) – A special ceremony was held Sunday afternoon at the Palace Theatre to honor the late Dr. Alice Green.
Dr. Green passed away on August 20th from cardiac arrest at the age of 84.
The tribute was free and open to the public and began at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
It featured different speakers, performances, and videos playing tribute to Dr. Alice Green.
Green was remembered for standing up to racist police brutality, fighting against the prison system, and ending the death penalty.
Speakers today said her legacy would be remembered forever. One of the speakers Sunday was the Director of Operations for the Center for Law and Justice, Ta-Sean Murdock.
“Dr. Green was amazing. And we wanted to make sure that we put together one of the best tributes,” said Murdock.
Another speaker on Sunday was an attorney named Mark Mishler.
“I had the privilege and joy to work closely with Alice in this effort through the past 40 years. She was a friend, a mentor, and a comrade,” Mishler said.
