A local fundraiser for at-risk and under-privileged youth greatly exceeded its expectations this weekend.
Twelve teams signed up for the inaugural volleyball tournament to benefit Capital District Youth for Christ.
A fundraising goal of $5,000 was blown out of the water. The local non-profit organization raised more than $12,000, which will help drive the extracurricular programs at the Edge in Halfmoon, as well as supply some daily essentials for pre-teens and teenagers.
The inaugural event was inspired by an annual volleyball fundraiser created by NOVUS Clothing Company, which has partnered on projects with Youth for Christ over the years.
