Sports camp for young people who are visually impaired kicks off in Saratoga
SARATOGA — The Saratoga Springs Lions club is holding an active sports camp for young people who are visually impaired.
Camp Abilities Saratoga will be held through August 6 at Skidmore College as part of a Lions Club service project.
It’s a way for children with a visual impairment or blindness to experience sports in a way they may not have been able to yet.
The campers learn sports skills they can bring back to school with them during the year that can help them participate on school teams with their classmates.
The camp was recently recognized by Lions Club International with the Kindness Matters Service Award.
That award recognizes high impact service projects created by Lions clubs across the world.
