St. Peter’s, United Health Care still at odds over insurance

St. Peter’s, United Healthcare at odds over possible new contract

Thousands of people in the Capital Region could lose health coverage as contract negotiations drag with one major provider.

St. Peter’s Health Partners and United Health Care remain at odds to reach a deal over health insurance.

United says St. Peter’s Health Partners continues to demand price hikes for plans that aren’t affordable or sustainable, and this has created an unnecessary disruption for the people they serve.

United Health Care goes on to say it is committed to continued discussions with St. Peter’s, and hopes the hospital works to reach an agreement.

As NewsChannel 13 has reported, the health insurance company and the hospital have been without a contract since July 1. This is affecting thousands of people across the Capital Region.

The two sides need to come to an agreement before August 31.

St. Peter’s Hospital told NewsChannel 13 on Wednesday that despite the ongoing negotiations, emergency health care is still being covered for anyone in need.
