State police holiday crackdown ends with nearly 33,000 tickets
State troopers issued 32,934 tickets during their DWI and distracted driving crackdown that ran through the holiday week, said Gov. Kathy Hochul.
The crackdown ran from Dec. 14 to Jan. 1.
There were 11,305 tickets given for speeding, and 453 people arrested for impaired driving.
In addition, 11,305 people were ticketed for speeding, 912 people were ticketed for distracted driving, 916 people were ticketed for seatbelt violations and 316 people were ticketed for failing to follow the “Move Over Law.”
There were also 4,417 accidents – with 528 injuries and eight deaths.
