Search continues for two men accused of ramming trooper’s car
State Police have released more information about the search for two men accused of stealing a truck and crashing into a trooper’s car.
NewsChannel 13 had spoken with a man who said his white Ford truck was stolen around 5 a.m. on Sunday morning in Pittsfield.
State Police said that around 8:30 a.m., Pittsfield Police contacted them reporting that they believe the truck may be in the area of Route 20. They found the truck in West Lebanon parked in the Dollar General parking lot. Troopers ordered the driver to stop the truck.
The two men did not comply and then headed west on Route 20 and turned left to head south on Route 13.
The driver lost control of the truck near County Road 13 and Kinderhook Road and both men were stuck in the vehicle, police said. He was able to get the truck into reverse and got unstuck. They left the scene, and in the process rammed the driver’s side door of the trooper car. Police said they believe it may have been intentional.
One of the two troopers inside was taken to Albany Medical Center for evaluation. He has since been released, police said.
The search is ongoing.
