State Police see big jump in trooper candidate applications
Changes to the New York State Police recruitment efforts seem to have paid off.
State Police recently had the highest trooper candidate processing turnout in more than a decade, they said.
More than 1,100 candidates took part.
The agency raised the maximum age to apply from 29 years old to 34. They also relaxed on rules like having tattoos on arms. They are permitted as long as they are covered up with a long-sleaved shirt and tie as part of the summer uniform.
