State providing $20 million for school-based mental health clinics
Hochul launches $20 million for school-based mental health clinics
The state is providing $20 million to create and expand school-based mental health clinics, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Tuesday.
Hochul was at Mohonasen High School for the announcement because the district has a program for the last six years, which has seen over 400 students.
She said that nearly one in four teens have considered suicide, according to the CDC. That is a significant increase from a decade ago. For teenage girls, the number increases to one in three.
She said that the applications are open. The state budget will fund a clinic for any school that wants one.
