Student ‘assassin’ game has East Greenbush Police sounding friendly reminder

East Greenbush Police are alerting the public to a game with squirt guns that students are playing called “Senior Assassin.”

The game involves kids eliminating other players using water or squirt guns. It goes on for several weeks until all players have been eliminated, the department posted on Facebook.

Players are “safe” if they are wearing swim goggles, which is why people may see students donning the glasses.

Police are asking players of the game to use brightly colored plainly identifiable toys. The department said: “Squirt guns that resemble real firearms present a safety risk especially if combined with actions like hiding or sneaking around places in our community.”

They are also asking players to be respectful of people’s property and those who are not participating so they don’t get caught in the crossfire.

East Greenbush school spokesman Mark Adam confirmed to NewsChannel 13 that while it is not a school-sanctioned activity, the district has used its school resource officer to educate students on how to play the game safely. A letter was sent to parents as well.

NewsChannel 13 asked others about the game on Facebook. Many viewers have commented that the game is a deeply-rooted tradition that stretches far beyond East Greenbush.
