Student debt relief temporarily blocked

It is one of President Biden’s most popular moves – and one of his most controversial: the elimination of up to $20,000 in student loan debt.

His administration had hoped to start discharging student debt for millions of Americans’ as early as Sunday.

But – a judge’s ruling has put that in limbo.

The challenge comes from republican led states.

The plan can cancel up to $10,000 in federal student debt or $20,000 for Pell grant recipients, or those making under $125,000 are eligible.

The white house is still planning to proceed full speed ahead and encourages those eligible to keep applying on studentaid.gov while the court case continues.
