Students react to news College of Saint Rose will close in spring 2024

Students reacted to the news that the College of Saint Rose would be closing after the spring semester.

“I’m honestly really disheartened. I didn’t think this news would come this fast. And I feel it’s leaving a lot of us unprepared,” said Emma Tuey, a current Saint Rose student, who spoke with NewsChannel 13’s Dan Levy on Thursday.

“I definitely dodged a bullet. I luckily was able to get a semester’s worth of college done in high school,” said McKenna Williams, another student.

“I came here to do my four years. I was expecting to graduate here. I met great friends,” said Mike Schmidt, a third student.

“I want to get my bachelor’s degree done. Getting stuck in this position, I’m speechless and it sucks,” said student Val Burlacenco.

Student Sam Booth said he does not know what he is going to do next.

“I met a bunch of great friends. I’m just going to miss it. I do not know where I’m going to go next. I have to go through the whole recruitment process again like I’m in high school,” he said.
