Guardsman has setback in recovery

Jacob Pratt was hurt when the chopper went down in Texas on March 8 near the U.S.-Mexico border. Pratt is still recovering in the ICU at a Texas hospital. His family tells NewsChannel 13 that he has developed a fever that doctors suspect was caused by pneumonia.

The New York National Guardsman severely injured in a National Guard helicopter crash in March has had another setback.

Jacob Pratt was hurt when the chopper went down in Texas on March 8 near the U.S.-Mexico border.

Pratt is recovering at a Texas hospital.

His family was optimistic that he would begin physical therapy this week. While he is making progress, some areas affected by the crash were not healing correctly, according to a GoFundMe account set up on behalf of the family.

Pratt went back into surgery Friday morning to correct the issue so he can resume physical therapy.

“The Pratt is beyond grateful to this community for all the donations, support, and prayers they have received,” the GoFundMe said.
