Teen dies in fatal ice accident
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office says two teenagers were walking 20 to 30 feet out onto the ice in the Taconic State Park, and both fell in.

One was able to get out and call 911.
Crews were able to recover the other teenager, who was later pronounced dead at Sharon Hospital in Connecticut.
The sheriff’s office reminds everyone to use extreme caution when walking onto ice, especially during periods of fluctuating temperatures.
Many times, the ice may appear to be safe, but isn’t.
