Teen sentenced to up to 9 years for fatal crash

A 17-year-old was sentenced on Friday to 3 to 9 years in prison for driving under the influence and killing a teen in a crash last October. Caleb Maya, 17, was driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he lost control of his vehicle on Oct. 8 on Interstate 890 in Colonie.

Caleb Maya, 17, was driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he lost control of his vehicle on Oct. 8 on Interstate 890 in Colonie. Maya hit a car going in the opposite direction. A passenger in Maya’s vehicle, A’Mon Willis, was killed.

A’Mon had just started Albany high School and his family told NewsChannel 13 at the time that he was an honor roll student who was a jokester and loved basketball.

Maya did not receive youthful offender status.
