Derrick J. Sud-Nieves, 29, is accused of leaving the dogs in deplorable conditions, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. Sud-Nieves was charged with 35 counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, failure to provide proper sustenance. He was released on an appearance ticket and is due in Halfmoon Town Court at a later date.

A Halfmoon man is facing animal cruelty charges after police said they seized 35 dogs from his home.

Derrick J. Sud-Nieves, 29, is accused of leaving the dogs in deplorable conditions, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.

He was released on an appearance ticket and is due in Halfmoon Town Court at a later date.

The animals are in the care of the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Menands.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible, investigators said.

NewsChannel 13 has obtained documents that describe unsanitary living conditions in the home and can smell an odor coming from the residence.

The owner of the property called police to make a complaint, according to the seizure documents.
