To-go alcoholic beverages extended until 2030
Having alcoholic beverages to go is sticking around for another six years.
The state Legislature approved an extension of the law that allows takeout beverage orders. The law was initially set to expire in 2025, but lawmakers extended it another five years.
Restaurants had lobbied for the change.
Other changes to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law include allowing applicants to simultaneously apply for a liquor license and notify their municipality. The State Liquor Authority won’t act on the application for 30 days so municipal input can be considered.
Another change is expanding one-day special event permits to include liquor. It was previously restricted to beer and wine. It also creates a new permit to allow for wholesale applicants to obtain a temporary permit while their license is pending.
