On Monday, the town will hold a ceremony to dedicate a stone marker to Gillis at the Sanford Town Library.

Gillis died when her plane went down and crashed in a wooded area near the library.

She was a poet, a wildlife photographer, and an advocate for preserving the environment.

The ceremony is at 10:30 a.m. on Albany Shaker Road in Loudonville.
