Mayor Kathy Sheehan celebrated Arbor Day by planting trees at Eagle Point Elementary School in Albany.

Albany is committed to planting 2,025 trees by the year 2025 to ensure their urban forest continues to thrive for generations to come, the mayor said.

The city anticipates meeting that goal this year – two years ahead of schedule.

Albany is using a grant from the state Department of Environmental Conservation to buy and plant hundreds of trees in West Hill and Arbor Hill.
