Trial of Berkshire County man accused of killing his wife starts

Opening statements are set to begin in Berkshire County on Thursday in the trial of a man accused of beating his wife to death.

Michael Cook Sr. allegedly hit the woman several times during a fight in 2019. She was placed into a coma and died 5 months later, according to NewsChannel 13’s news partners at the Berkshire Eagle.

Cook has spent time behind bars for child rape and indecent assault.

His attorney had argued that he would not get a fair trial in Berkshire County, but the request to move it was denied.
