The trial for a man accused of stabbing an ex-girlfriend at Hudson Valley Community College last November is scheduled to begin next month.

Zymeir Walton is set to stand trial in Rensselaer County Court on Oct. 16 on several charges including attempted murder, assault, robbery and weapons possession, according to the clerk’s office.

Walton allegedly attacked 19-year-old woman who he had been in a relationship with, police said. He is accused of following her to her car, entering the car and stabbing her multiple times. Then, he pushed her out of the car and drove out.

Walton is claiming self-defense, saying he was attacked first.
