Crews battled a fire in the bitter cold Saturday morning.
The fire broke out 5:30 a.m. in a house on Second Avenue.
Troy firefighters say there was a woman who was trapped and was helped to safety by the fire crews.
We’re told the fire spread to a second house.
Both houses are heavily damaged.
One firefighter had to be taken to the hospital.
At the time of the call the temperature was -13 with a windchill in the -30’s. Hand lines were freezing and any water on the ground was immediately freezing creating hazardous conditions for the firefighters.
