Troy man, 21, arrested in shooting of two girls
Troy Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection to the shooting in May of two girls.
Keovion J. Goodwine is accused of shooting the 14-year-old and 11-year-old shortly after midnight on May 12, Troy Police said.
Troy and Colonie Police on July 2 searched an apartment on Phelan Court in Troy, where the suspect was located. Goodwine was arrested without incident.
Goodwine was charged with attempted murder, criminal use of a firearm, reckless endangerment, two counts of assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was arraigned in Troy City Court and sent to Rensselaer County Jail.
The arrest prompted outrage in the community.
Mayor Carmella Mantello commended the diligent work of officers and detectives in this case.
“Violence has no place in our community, and this arrest stands as a testament that if you commit a crime in Troy, we will find you and bring you to justice,” she said in a statement.
Police Chief Daniel DeWolf credited the arrest to the “tenacity” of the department and relationships they have with their community.
