Troy man gets prison time for not helping overdose victim, but dumping her body
A Troy man was sentenced to 1 to 3 years in prison for not helping a woman who overdosed on drugs, but instead using a U-Haul truck and a wheelchair to dump her body in an Albany neighborhood.
Tavel Harris, 46, was arrested last April in connection with the death of Naghira Walker. She had overdosed and police said he was aware of her grave condition, but did not get medical attention.
Instead, he attempted to destroy her body, as well as clothing and bedding, which had her blood on it.
Harris had pleaded guilty to manslaughter and two counts of tampering with physical evidence.
