A Troy man who killed his 16-year-old brother was sentenced to 20-years in prison Monday.
Jatae Gourrier-Lewis, 22, plead guilty in September to manslaughter.
Prosecutors said Gourrier-Lewis shot his brother, Jaylin Gourrier-Lewis, during a dispute over guns.
The older brother told the judge Monday that he did not intend to kill Jaylin and was only trying to shield him from a life out on the streets.
Gourrier-Lewis also received five years’ post-supervision release.
