Thousands of people will fill the streets of downtown Troy on Thanksgiving for the annual “Turkey Trot.”

More than 6,000 people had signed up by Tuesday morning.

Mike Duffey, 66, is among them. He started as a volunteer at the Troy Turkey Trot in 1972, but it didn’t take long for him to jump in as a runner.

The Catholic High grad has overcome several health hurdles to stay on the starting line. Two heart valve replacements and a pacemaker installation haven’t stopped Duffey yet. There is nowhere else he’d rather be Thanksgiving morning, he said.
