A Troy man had a loaded gun in his carry-on bag at Albany International Airport, the Transportation Security Administration said.

An x-ray machine spotted the weapon at a checkpoint on Monday. It was in a duffle bag with his clothes, the TSA said.

This was the third gun caught at a checkpoint this year, said the airport.

Travelers are instead supposed to put guns in checked luggage.

Federal penalties can be up to $15,000 for bringing a weapon to an airport checkpoint.
