Two juveniles are facing attempted murder charges in Troy.

Police officers responded to the area of 3rd Street and Jefferson Street at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report of shots fired. They interviewed a person who believed they were the intended target. No one was struck by the gunfire. The suspects fled before patrol officers’ arrival, police said.

A patrol captain observed people matching the suspects’ description in the area of the Congress Street Bridge entering Watervliet. They were seen on a CDTA bus.

Officers from Watervliet and Troy were able to take the suspects into custody on 3rd Avenue in Watervliet.

The suspects had a bag with three loaded handguns and high-capacity magazines. One of the illegal handguns is a privately made firearm, police said.

The suspects are ages 15 and 16. They were processed and will be in youth court. The 15-year-old suspect was wanted on a warrant in Rensselaer County Court in connection with a November 2023 incident where he allegedly possessed a loaded handgun and committed a robbery.
