Two people face gun and drug charges

Two people are facing gun and drug charges after a traffic stop in Johnstown.

Two people are facing drug and weapons charges after a traffic stop in Johnstown on Sunday.

Officers pulled over a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe at about 12:17 a.m. for traffic violations. The vehicle was driven by 41-year-old Thomas J. Jordan, of Fonda and 33-year-old Broadalbin resident Alyssa M. Davenport. There was also a juvenile passenger in the vehicle, police said.

During the course of the investigation, officers found an illegal .380 caliber handgun and illegal drugs in the vehicle, police said. Jordan and Davenport also had drugs on their person.

Jordan and Davenport were each charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. They are also facing misdemeanors including two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child. Jordan also was charged with a violation of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Both suspects were arraigned in Johnston City Court and sent without bail to Fulton County Jail.
