Two Vermont residents arrested in connection with Washington County burglary
Two Vermont residents are facing charges in connection with a Washington County burglary.
State Police received a complaint on Saturday at around 3 p.m. about a residence in Dresden that had been burglarized. When troopers were investigating, Diane M. Reed, 33, of Poultney, answered the door at a neighboring home. Troopers found some of the stolen items in that home, State Police said.
Reed and Theodore C. Smith, 35, also of Poultney, had been illegally living at that location, police said.
Smith was charged with a felony count of second-degree burglary. Reed was charged with misdemeanors of criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Reed was released on appearance ticket and is due in Dresden Town Court on May 16.
Smith was transported to Washington County Jail to await arraignment.
