Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. Yet it can be prevented.

Statistics show suicide touches one in five American families.

Volunteers from the Capital Region and beyond are joining the quarter of a million people who are walking in towns across the country, to draw attention to the fight for suicide prevention.

University at Albany hosted a walk in an effort to prevent suicide. Registration opened at 10, and the walk program kicked off at 11.

These walks support the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention’s education and support programs, as well as its goal to reduce the annual U.S. rate of suicide by 20%, by the year 2025.
