Unity House hosts annual domestic violence awareness block party

Saturday, Unity House held its annual block party to help shine a light on domestic violence.

October is domestic violence awareness and prevention month.

Unity house in troy helps about 1,600 people a year from the community.

They offer a variety of services to help people struggling in the Capital Region. The block party draws attention to how the organization helps those escaping domestic violence.

“Domestic violence awareness month helps us show victims and survivors that there’s a lot of resources in the community for them. There’s the services that we provide here which range from housing, we have a domestic violence shelter that can support up to 40 individuals at any given time, we have multiple housing programs, we have a walk in program,” said Tabitha Dunn, Director of Domestic Violence Services.
